I have been working with individuals and couples with a focus in sexual health and needs for four years. I have applied for certification through IBOSP (International Board of Sexuality Professionals). I blend Somatic therapies which teach us how to be present in our bodies, with Sex Therapy to help individuals embody and improve their sexual health. Individuals who see me are often struggling with Vaginismus, Vulvodynia, hormone changes, erectile dysfunction, and recovery from sexual assault and abuse. Sexual health issues can cause low self-esteem, relationship problems, and social isolation. I am sex positive and believe caring for our sexual health is as important as caring for our mental health. I have experience working with couples and individuals in nontraditional relationships (ENM, Polyamory) as well as LGBTQ+ individuals. I teach nervous system regulation, emotion focused communication, and use Polyvagal Theory in Sex Therapy.
Experience
I have experience treating mood disorders, addiction, mental health impacts of chronic pain, cancer, and other auto immune disorders. Additionally, helping individuals make behavioral changes in career, health, and relationships is my passion. I work with individuals, couples and adult families. My career spans twenty-five years, and my early work taught me the importance of recognizing the impact of childhood trauma on mental health. I work closely with my clients to help them identify and explore the impacts of early childhood or adulthood trauma in their lives. Complex Trauma, identified a pattern of repeated childhood adverse experiences or CPTSD is one my favorite areas to assist with. I firmly believe while trauma may be a part of our stories it does not define us.
